Horsforth Stallions AGM 2006 |
Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the members of the Horsforth Stallions 5-a-side Football Club, held at the Fox and Hounds, Horsforth, on Wednesday the 26th July 2006 at 9.00pm.
Present:
Martin Islip (Chairperson), Steve Nicholson (Treasurer), Adrian Burch (Secretary), Steve Bates, Calvin Field, Neil Lathey, Geoff Moore, Dave Sidebottom, Peter Smith.
Not present:
Gordon Bell, Dave Cropper, Mark Cohen, Steve Reilly, Lee Schofield, Andy Missen, Simon Redshaw.
Minutes of Last meeting:
It was agreed that the minutes of the last meeting were an accurate record.
Chairpersons Report.
The chairman noted that there had been no new members added to the club this year.
He thanked the treasurer and secretary for their work over the season.
He informed the meeting that the Horsforth Stallions were now mentioned in the Horsforth Community Directory, together with the Chairman's phone number. As yet no calls had been taken.
He expressed hope that the club would continue to thrive, and that he himself would get to play more games this year (having played only 1 last year).
Treasurer’s report
(The financial statement can be found at the end of this document)
The Treasurer presented his report, cash flow statement, register report and itemised category report.
Two balls were purchased over the year.
Income had been effected by a few weeks with borrowed players, and that this year the secretary had not paid as the previous secretary had.
The Treasurer informed the meeting that at the end of season the surplus was £32.00. (Still outstanding were engraving and trophy cost.)
It was proposed that the money be used to purchase 3 new footballs. This was greeted with a unanimous murmer of agreement.
The secretary informed the meeting that he had paid £28 for the website. There will be an on-going cost as yet unknown.
Missing Shirt
There is 1 missing white shirt. It was agreed to write it off and we can now stop searching for it.
Election of officers for season 2005 / 2006
Chairperson - Martin Islip to continue for a further season.
Treasurer - Steve Nicholson to continue for a further season
Secretary – Adrian Burch to continue for a further season.
Social Secretary - Dave Sidebottom to continue for a further season.
Player of the season award
The player of the season was confirmed as Dave Cropper with 18% pods. Narrowly beating Simon Redshaw who had 21% but had played marginally less than 50% required to be eligible.
Trophy to be purchased and given to Lee to give to Dave who is working in London for 6 months. Steve Nick to liaise with Gordon.
Any other business
Refereeing was discussed at length and ended up with general agreement that what we have in place is the best option. It was noted that some of the worst weeks for friction were when an 11th man has stood as referee. In such a situation personal responsibility was ducked in favour of the referee.
It was agreed that the referee needs to more forceful with his decisions, but that players need to remain honest because referees cannot always see what is going on.
Geoff declared that it was tiresome choosing the teams every week. It was discussed and an automatic solution was not deemed possible. Geoff agreed to continue in this role for the foreseeable future.
It was suggested that the games had been more physical this year, and that those players with less beef took the knocks harder. No further action was deemed necessary on this point, although we were reminded that the Horsforth Community Directory (as specified above) describes us as a "Friendly 5-a-side club".
It was motioned and carried that the round-robin become a regular Christmas and End-of-Season event, organised depending on the number of players available.
The meeting closed at 10:30 p.m.
