Minutes of the Annual
General Meeting of the members of Horsforth
Stallions 5-a-side Football Club Held at The
Queens Public House, Horsforth On Wednesday, 18
July 2001 at 9:30 p.m.
Present
: Martin Islip (chairperson), Peter Smith (treasurer),
Adrian Burch(secretary),
Andrew Missen, Chris Plank, Neil Lathey, Steve
Bates, Steve Nicholson,
Calvin Field, John Hutchinson. and honorary
members, Geoff Dutton, Steve Coates and Bob.
Apologies
- An
apology had been received from Gordon
Bell, Mark Cohen, Neil Chapman and
Geoff Moore.
Minutes
of Last Meeting
- It
was agreed that the minutes of the last
meeting were an accurate record.
Matters
Arising
- Neil
Lathey noted that nobody backs him up (when
appealing against infringements) and
suggested that we use an 11th man as
referee. No-one could be found to second
the idea.
- It
was generally agreed that the playing
referee works to a degree, and the
present format is to continue (a player
can refuse to ref if he so wishes)
- It
was agreed that the secretary will
continue to be exempt from the weekly
subscription fee next season, as
recompense for organising players each
week.
Chairman's
Report
- Martin
noted that it was good to have a surplus
of players (we only had one game this
year with 9, one didn't turn up and
didn't phone up, did you Jay)
- Adrian
was commended on his excellent
maintenance of the website (although, on
the homepage, Dave looked remarkably like
Geoff for a week or two!)
Treasurer’s
report
- The
Treasurer presented his report, cash flow
statement, register report and itemised
category report.
- Steve
Nicholson is to audit the accounts.
- The
Treasurer informed the meeting that the
end of season surplus is £56. It was
agreed that the surplus be used for the
following.
- A new football and pump should be
purchased.
- Two rounds of drinks should be provided.
- Any remaining surplus to be carried
into next season.

Election
of officers for season 2000 / 2001
- Chairperson
- Martin Islip to continue for a further
season.
- Treasurer
- Peter Smith has decided to stand down.
Steve Nicholson is to be the the new
treasurer. The members offered thanks to
the outgoing treasurer for 2 years
faithful service to the club.
- Secretary
- Adrian Burch to continue for a further
season.
Player
of the season award
- The
player of the season was confirmed as
Gordon Bell with 7 POD awards.
Runner-up was Adrian with 5.
Any
other business
- Neil Lathey suggested that all available
players turn up each week and rotate the
teams so that everybody had the same
number of kicks at the ball. No-one could
be found to second the motion. (I made
that bit up, about the same no. of kicks,
but it sounded good!)
- Andy Missen proposed playing on another
night of the week rather than Wednesday.
Even Neil didn't support this idea!
- Martin proposed a far more complicated
method of choosing teams (it is currently
at Gordon and Peter's discretion) which
no-one could understand, least of all
Martin.
- It was suggested we look into buying our
own nets. Peter offered to have a look
and see what he can find.
- The
meeting requested Geoff Moore to continue
as social secretary for the club. Geoff
was not there and was accepted in
absentia.
- The
meeting closed at 10:30 p.m. (A good time
was had by all)
Minuted
by Adrian Burch, Secretary
