Agenda
Horsforth Stallions AGM 2008

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the members of the Horsforth Stallions 5-a-side Football Club, held at the Queens Arms, Horsforth, on Wednesday the 16th July 2008 at 10.00pm.

Present:
  • Martin Islip (Chairperson), Steve Nicholson (Treasurer), Adrian Burch (Secretary), Geoff Moore, Dave Sidebottom, Steve Reilly, Andy Missen, Gordon Bell, Lee Priestley, Mark Hewitt.
Apologies:
  • Jamie

Minutes of Last meeting:

  • It was agreed that the minutes of the last meeting were an accurate record.

Matters Arising:

  • The school owes us £20 from end of last year. I seems like we owe them more than they owe us, so chasing up the missing £20 has been dropped.
  • Trophy was sorted out (by Adrian) and presented (to Adrian) ok.
  • Automatic Selection by the website has been implemented and has been a great success.

Chairpersons Report.

  • The chairman opened by welcoming the 3 new members to the club, i.e. Mark Hewitt, Jay North and Jamie Bell.
  • The chairman acknowledged, with regret, that he hadn't managed to play this year.
  • He noted that Dave and Steve B had played all the games this season.
  • He reported that we had used 19 players over the year, but only 9 had played more than half (and therefore eligible for the POY)
  • Another interesting fact; over 9 years we have had 9 POY's yet nobody has managed to win it twice
  • He gave thanks to the Secretary and Treasurer for their good work this season

Treasurer’s report

(The financial statement can be found at the end of this document)
  • Treasurer reports we have £200 in the bank (well, on top of Steve's wardrobe actually, which he can't reach, so it in good hands then!)
  • Of that £200 we owe the school £26
  • Subs will remain at £3 next year

Election of officers for season 2007 / 2008

  • Chairperson - Martin Islip to continue for a further season.
  • Treasurer - Steve Nicholson to continue for a further season
  • Secretary – Adrian Burch to continue for a further season.
  • Social Secretary - Dave Sidebottom to continue for a further season.

Player of the season award

  • Trophy was awarded to Lee Priestley for the Player of the Year with 6 PODs from 32 games (15.62%)
  • Lee made a speech (a first!) and gave thanks to his fellow players without whom dee dah dee dah dee dah....

Any other business

  • Adrian suggested and Steve N seconded a motion that head-high as allowed off the keeper should be extended to all equipment. i.e. benches, goals and mats. The motion was carried unanimously.
  • The issue of playing outside on the astroturf was discussed. This is not a favourable option, and it was pointed out that should the pitch be already booked then we would not be able to play at all (because of exams in the hall). Martin is going to have a look if Trinity and All Saints is any good for a venue. Other option is to try and book the outside pitch in advance (as soon as the school can tell us when the hall will be out of use due to exams)
  • This year the POY contenders were very close. It was moved that selection be extended to POD%/ Wins/Games Played. This motion was also carried unanimously.
  • The chairman was concerned that he hadn't played this year and was therefore, according to the rules, not a member of the club. It was agreed that the chairman does not indeed need to be a member of the club, and Andy Missen was at pains to point out that these days chairmen are in fact encouraged from outside the organisation.
  • Steve Nich suggested that punishment be introduced for bad sportsmanship (triggered by the right-hook situation) After lengthy debate it was moved that any player, at the end of an evening, could request the suspension of another player for 2 weeks, for conduct unbecoming. If a quorum (i.e. 5) players agreed then the offending player would miss 2 weeks, and go to the bottom of the queue.
