Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of the members of the Horsforth Stallions 5-a-side Football Club, held at the Fox and Hounds, Horsforth, on Wednesday the 18th July 2007 at 9.30pm.

• Martin Islip (Chairperson), Steve Nicholson (Treasurer), Adrian Burch (Secretary), Neil Lathey, Geoff Moore, Dave Sidebottom, Peter Smith, Lee Schofield, Steve Reilly, Andy Missen, Gordon Bell, Lee Priestley & Simon Redshaw.

Minutes of Last meeting:

• It was agreed that the minutes of the last meeting were an accurate record.

Chairpersons Report.

• The chairman opened by welcoming the 2 new members to the club, i.e. Lee Priestley and Stewart Wheadon.
• It was noted, with regret, that Dave Cropper, Mark Cohen and John Hutchinson are no longer members of the club (although you only need to play 1 game to get back in!).
• Steve Reilly was commended on having played the most games this season, having missed none.
• The stats revealed that the shirts had not been washed 1 week. This is true, that was the week we played in skins!
• Andy Missen was congratulated on having won more pods than Dave Sidebottom.
• He thanked the treasurer and secretary for their work over the season.
• He expressed hope that the club would continue to thrive, and that he himself would get to play more games this year (having played only 1 last year and 1 game the year before!). Having fallen off a ladder and broken his toe the previous week, things were not looking too good.

Treasurer’s report

• The Treasurer presented his report, cash flow statement, register report and itemised category report.
• There is currently £65 surplus in the account.
• £100 was spent on footballs and kit over the year.
• 1 week nobody took the subs.
• 1 week we didn't pay but still had to pay!
• The school owes us £20 - Treasurer to chase.
• Pause in the proceedings while Neil arrives and settles in.
• There is £150 in Steve's bedside table which the lettings agency refuse to accept.
  Options are to reduce subs next year
  Put it towards a group event (Christmas do etc.)
  Unanimously agreed to reduce subs to £3.
• The new trophy and engraving are still to be paid for.

Election of officers for season 2007 / 2008

• Chairperson - Martin Islip to continue for a further season.
• Treasurer - Steve Nicholson to continue for a further season
• Secretary – Adrian Burch to continue for a further season.
• Social Secretary - Dave Sidebottom to continue for a further season.

Player of the season award

• The player of the season was confirmed as Adrian with 20% pods. Andy came 2nd with 15%.
• Trophy to be purchased and given to Adrian. Adrian to arrange.

Any other business

• Steve Reilly was interested to know exactly what the rules mean when it says "Any part of a defender’s body entering the penalty area will be penalised by the award of a penalty kick". It was explained this means that any part of a defender's body entering the penalty area, except where no advantage can be gained. The exiting rules seem clear enough.
• Slide tackles are not referenced in the Rules. This has now been rectified.
• Referees cannot always see what is going on and players need to remain honest.
• Geoff again raised that it is quite tiresome choosing the teams every week, and offered the job up for grabs, which no one rose to. Adrian to look into an automatic selection process via the website.
• A fair play award was discussed but that was all.
• Head-high was discussed at length. Please read the rules if you wish to understand them.
• If opposition is standing too close at free kick, hold your arm out and he should also extend his so that the finger tips meet.
• It was suggested that head-high off deflections should be ignored, but this was ignored.
